about the enigma//

Ola! My name is Nicole but you can call me..... anytime. *wink* Nahh just kidding, you can call me Ikah. I've been existing in this world for 17 years now (but i literally look like a 10 year old) and I was born in Las Islas Filipinas also known as the Philippines. I loooove eating and yes, I know it's not that obvious but I really do. I play the ukulele, guitar and a tiny bit of drums (I just started). Sportswise, I play badminton, volleyball, golf and now I'm trying to learn how to play basketball although I'm pretty sure it'll be hard for me cause DUH i'm like 5'3. I also do boxing and muay thai so I'm preeeeetty vicious and deadly lol jk.

So basically I've lived in the Philippines since I was born and I just moved here in Abu Dhabi last August 1st to study and be with my parents. I'll probably stay here in Abu Dhabi for 2 years (If I do well in school) just to finish Grades 11 and 12 then move to the United States to go to a university and take up Business Entrepreneurship then eventually manage our family business. Buuuut I ain't worrying about that yet cause right now the two things I'm trying to achieve is having good grades and getting through Grade 11.

I'm a bilingual human being. I can speak English and Tagalog fluently. Back in our house in the Philippines, my grandma and I usually speak to each other in English and the school that I went to had a strict English speaking policy. Me learning how to speak English in an early age is such a good thing cause as I grew older I understood things easier. So I think it's really important to study about language because that is how we communicate and interact with each other.

Sooo yeah, that's it. Thanks for wasting your time reading this introduction of mine.

*Random fact 1: I studied in a religious all girls school for 10 years back in the Philippines.. (There were LOTS of lesbians)
*Random fact 2: I'm actually an extrovert inside an introvert body. I know that sounds silly but it's true. I look like a shy and quiet person on the outside but I'm really not on the inside. It may seem like I don't talk that much but once you get to know me, I'll probably be one of the loudest people you'll meet. I SWEAR.

    Hi Nicole, this was a good introductory blog post. I hope you find your transition to Raha and Abu Dhabi to be a smooth one. Your experience as a bilingual speaker should make much of the content of this first unit very relatable. I plan on calling you out to speak up on a regular basis knowing that you consider yourself an extrovert.

Hello there earthling. My name is Nicole and I’m guessing you already know that because my name’s like everywhere in my blog. Ironically, I’m not used to people calling me by that name because back in the Philippines I had a lot of nicknames. The people from my previous school calls me Ikah, Iks, Chinita or Niknik. While my parents and relatives call me Nika which is like my OG nickname. My first and second name is Nicole Anne. I think David Foster Wallace’s theory on education basically says that education doesn’t only include academic knowledge but also having knowledge of reality and of the things around you.  One of the many things he said which struck me the most was “The really important kind of freedom involves attention and awareness and discipline, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them over and over in myriad petty, unsexy ways every day.
