The Solution To Online ‘Harassment’ Is Simple: Women Should Log Off “Look, I know it’s not an ideal situation. In a perfect universe we would all be able to cooperate and coexist in the same environment, acting respectfully for each other’s views and the freedom of the land. But that just isn’t the world we live in mainly because of people like me.” says Milo “I believe that women are screwing up the internet for men by invading every space we have online by openly discussing their stance on feminism to grab more attention and victimize themselves (even though some of them were actually raped, abused and violated but whatever, right?) knowing that men are naturally boisterous, confrontational and delightfully autistic which is incredibly okay because this is how we were created to be hence why we are entitled to stalk, threaten, demean and scare women and they shouldn’t have the right to complain. ” “The internet can’t cope any more with such strenuous tension between the sex

education//

I think David Foster Wallace’s theory on education basically says that education doesn’t only include academic knowledge but also having knowledge of reality and of the things around you.  One of the many things he said which struck me the most was “The really important kind of freedom involves attention and awareness and discipline, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them over and over in myriad petty, unsexy ways every day. That is real freedom. That is being educated, and understanding how to think. The alternative is unconsciousness, the default setting, the rat race, the constant gnawing sense of having had, and lost, some infinite thing.” His whole speech talks about how we have the freedom to think and do what we want and with this freedom, we tend to just be in our own universe and we tend to just think about ourselves unconsciously. However, it shouldn’t be like that. This quote is saying that the best kind of freedom is having to think abo

thesis 3//

The personal history or the background of a writer plays an important part in his/her texts. He/She derives the true meaning and the intended emotions of the text from it as it adds significance to the text as a whole. Moreover, the personal history of the writer can somewhat make it more relatable for the readers thus the text having more impact to them.

thesis statement 2//

Throughout the entirety of the novel, it demonstrates the vast majority of the stereotypes given to men and women. It exhibited the very cliche stereotype towards men and women regarding their roles in the society.  It profoundly influenced the whole Igbo culture and how they treated women. It contributed a lot with regards to the build up of the conflicts and basically the plot of the whole novel.

things fall apart thesis//

Thesis Statement : Secondary characters or “minor” characters, as I’d like to call it, are basically characters who are a bit less important than the major character and they often contribute to the development or downfall of the main character. Unlike the major character who stays all throughout the novel, a minor character may come and go. Secondary characters or “minor” characters, as I’d like to call it, are basically characters who are a bit less important than the major character. They often contribute to the development or downfall of the main character. Unlike the major character who stays all throughout the novel, a minor character may come and go. In the novel Things Fall Apart, I would say that there would probably be seven significant secondary characters in which Chinua Achebe decided to include in order for us to better understand the main character, Okonkwo and the whole book itself. These characters are Unoka, Nwoye, Ezinma, Ikemefuna and Obierika. The first

okonkwo//

I think Achebe’s way of characterizing Okonkwo is his method of putting an emphasis on the element of the novel of being tragic. One of the most important element of a tragic novel or play is having a tragic hero who has a tragic flaw which would lead him to a catastrophe or his own destruction. It also helps with the essence of leaving the audience or the readers in a catharsis which is another important element of a tragic novel. In addition to this, Okonkwo is considered to be a contradictory character and it shows how complex the Igbo people is trying to challenge the Western’s perception to Africans. His character also portrays the culture’s traditions, beliefs and views on things like colonization.

things fall apart//

“it's not difficult to identify with somebody like yourself, somebody next door who looks like you. What's more difficult is to identify with someone you don't see, who's very far away, who's a different color, who eats a different kind of food. When you begin to do that then literature is really performing its wonders.” I definitely agree with Chinua’s explanation of the effectivity of literature. Literature is basically one of our main source of knowledge. We learn stuff based on what we read and see. Literature expands our knowledge and idea about the world we live in. It’s easier for us to know about the things which we’re able to see and experience ourselves because we get to pick things up whilst we’re seeing them or doing it. However, not because we can’t experience some other stuff ourselves, doesn’t mean we don’t have any chances on understanding them. We may not be able to interact with the people from the other side of the world and we may not be abl

foa reflection//

My Further Oral Activity was about how African Americans use Spoken Word Poetry as their medium or platform to protest. I chose two poems to discuss which were entitled “How we forget” by Loyce Gayo and “Black Privilege” by Crystal Valentine. Coming up with this topic wasn’t really hard for me because I have been watching spoken word videos by the youtube channel, Button Poetry, and I have noticed that quite a few of the poems being made were about the lives of the African Americans. So then I realized that they use spoken poetry as a platform for them to voice out their emotions. Through the process of choosing which poems to discuss, it didn’t take much time to find the best ones considering the allotted time given for the presentation. The first poem I discussed was quite a difficult poem to talk about line by line because it needed extra research for me to be able to fully understand what she meant. To be honest, it took me a while to research about some of the things the speaker h

act 1//

Image
In act I of Coriolanus, this is where majority of the characters were introduced. The first scene reveals a lot about the citizen’s, Menenius’ and Coriolanus’ personalities. We can see here the difference between the relationship of the citizens to Menenius and Coriolanus. Menenius is known to be good with the citizens whilst Coriolanus isn’t. In this particular scene, we can say that it foreshadows how the citizens would react if ever Coriolanus fails or does something wrong. It also shows the state of Rome at that time and that is the patricians were treated better and they had more benefits compared to the plebians. Then, in scene II, this is where the character of Aufidius is introduced. This scene is set in a Volsconian city called Corioles, the place which Coriolanus will soon conquer in scene 8. Hence, the nickname. Moving on, scene 3 is where the triple V’s characters were introduced. Volumnia, Coriolanus’ mother, Virgilia, his wife and Valeria, his wife’s friend. This scene s

To what extent should scientific knowledge be open to the public?

To what extent should scientific knowledge be open to the public? I believe that scientific knowledge and claims should always be open to public as it is where we get our ideas and knowledge about almost everything in this world from. Now, we can all agree on the fact that Science is objective. It has a huge role on how this world is right now. We wouldn’t be able to reach this state of development if it wasn’t because of Science. Our wide knowledge about how everything on this planet works is because of our freedom to learn the different branches of science.

preserving a language//

According to the article, linguists estimate that a language dies every 2 weeks. Out of the roughly 6,500 languages spoken as of today, up to half of these are already endangered or on the brink of extinction. Personally, I find this very shocking and sad. Language is considered as a unique part of a culture. This is one of the few elements which makes a culture different from the others. Nowadays, there's been a constant change in our culture. Thus, affecting the language. There are a lot of causes of language extinction and some of these are colonization, people's need to adapt in situations and pop culture or mass media. Personally, I think it's important to preserve local languages as it upholds the cultural and historical background of a culture and it represents its identity. Languages may evolve throughout a period of time but despite this, its true essence will always be there. Language will always be a part of the development of a culture. And by keeping a lang
