The personal history or the background of a writer plays an important part in his/her texts. He/She derives the true meaning and the intended emotions of the text from it as it adds significance to the text as a whole. Moreover, the personal history of the writer can somewhat make it more relatable for the readers thus the text having more impact to them. 

Throughout the entirety of the novel, it demonstrates the vast majority of the stereotypes given to men and women. It exhibited the very cliche stereotype towards men and women regarding their roles in the society.  It profoundly influenced the whole Igbo culture and how they treated women. It contributed a lot with regards to the build up of the conflicts and basically the plot of the whole novel.
